A one-day national seminar was organized by the Department of English at our esteemed institution,Government PG College Naraingarh on 11th February,2023.It was sponsored by the Department of Higher Education, Haryana.The theme of the National Seminar was The Post -Truth Era :Literary and Media Studies.The chief patron of the seminar was Mr.Rajiv Rattan ,DHE ,Haryana. The seminar was organised under the patron-ship of principal Mrs.Promila Malik and convener ship of Mr Sanjeev Kumar ,Head,Department of English ,Govt. College, Naraingarh. The seminar was held in off-line mode only.It aimed to host the academicians and teachers to deliberate on the concept of post-truth and numerous sub-themes related to it. The seminar was inaugurated by lighting the lamp at 10 AM followed by principal ‘s address and a formal welcome to the honourable guests and speakers.The keynote address was given by Dr Umed Singh,distinguished professor and chair ,Department of English and foreign languages ,Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, Haryana. He gave an extensive and informative talk on post -truth.The talk provided all the participants an opportunity to know about various aspects of post-truth and perils of post -truth.He also talked about how in the current despairing scenario,only Literature and Art can prove to be the saviors because these are about truth and reality .Truth has no substitute and truth cannot be defeated and how Literature speaks for those who don’t have a voice of their own.It was followed by book release and technical session -1.It was chaired by Dr.Yash pal and moderated by Dr.Anuradha. Several research papers were presented in technical sessions 1 and 2. It was chaired by Dr.Virender Pal and moderated by Prof.Jaspal.The valedictory session began at 3 pm. Dr. Ravi Bhushan, Professor, and chair, Department of English, BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya Khanpur Kalan , Sonipat gave deep insight into post-truth, truth, Literature, language, and holistic meaning. He also said that since emotions and basic human goodness remains, the truth remains too. The rest of the propaganda is post-truth. The session ended at around 4 pm with a vote of thanks by the convener of the seminar prof. Sanjeev Kumar. The feedback was obtained from the participants and paper presenters. The seminar provided ample scope for intellectual interaction. The discussions in the seminar turned out to be very interesting, enriching, and informative and gave everyone the opportunity to learn the key aspects and the concepts of post-truth. Around 70 teachers and research scholars participated in the seminar. Dr. Apoorva Chawla was the co-convener, and Mr. Shubham was the co-ordinator and Dr.Seema Rana was the organizing secretary of the seminar. All the teaching and non-teaching staff members contributed to make the seminar successful .
