20-02-2022 Online National Webinar on "Blockchain Technology"

Posted on 24/04/2023

On 20/2/2022 an online webinar was organized on the topic "BlockChain & Online Security" by the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (Professor, CSE M.M.D.U. Mullana) has been invited as the chief resource person. Prof. Sanjeev explained "how Blockchain is a decentralized and distributed digital ledger technology that allows multiple parties to maintain a secure and transparent record of transactions without the need for a central authority or intermediary. During the extension lecture on the blockchain, several key concepts and features were discussed, including: Blockchain consists of a series of interconnected blocks, with each block containing a set of transactions. Transactions on the blockchain are secured using cryptography and are verified by a network of nodes that participate in the network. Consensus algorithms are used to ensure that all nodes in the network agree on the state of the blockchain. Blockchain provides transparency and immutability, which means that once a transaction is recorded on the blockchain, it cannot be altered or deleted. About 50 students and 65 teachers from various colleges across the country joined the meeting. Overall, the lecture highlighted the potential of blockchain to transform various industries and the importance of understanding its key concepts and limitations before implementing it.
