18-09-2024 Workshop on Investor Education and Financial Literacy by SEBI Chandigarh

A one day 'Investor Education Workshop' was organized in Government College Narayangarh under the joint aegis of Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Department of Commerce and Computer Science under the chairmanship of Acting Principal Professor Joga Singh on the instructions of Principal Dr. Ajit Singh. In which about 200 students of B.Com, M.Com and BCA participated. In-charge of the program Professor Renu Kumari and Dr. Reema Sandhu welcomed Smarts Trainer Vishwadeep Sharma from Securities Exchange Board of India Chandigarh by giving him a plant. This workshop was conducted in two sessions in which students of B.Com, BCA participated in the first session and students of M.Com participated in the second session. Addressing the students, the Acting Principal said that in today's era it is very important for the students to know about financial education. During the program, trainer Vishwadeep Sharma explained important things related to financial education in a very easy way by giving examples. He gave information about the importance of investment and financial investment opportunities. He told about the process of investing in the securities market. He told that there are many job opportunities in the investment market as well. He gave basic information about important topics like SEBI, BSE, NSE, shares, mutual funds, commodity market. Apart from this, emphasizing the importance of investing through Systematic Investment Plan (SIP), he said that investing in the stock market in the long term can give good returns, but investing without information can also lead to losses. Convener of Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Head of the Department of Commerce Professor Renu Kumari welcomed the keynote speaker and introduced him along with his achievements in the related field and said that the main objective of this workshop is to make the students aware about savings and investment so that they can secure their future. During the program, the students gave positive feedback. Trainer Vishwadeep answered the questions asked by the students very easily. At the end of the program, Head of the Department of Computer Science Dr. Reema Sandhu thanked everyone and motivated the students to participate in such workshops and the Principal honored them with a certificate. Professor Sanjeev Kumar, Head of the History Department, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Commerce Department and Computer Science Department staff members Dr. Rajiv Goel, Dr. Swarnjit Singh, Dr. Manisha Devi, Dr. Sapna Gupta, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Daljeet, Raj Rani, Nisha, and Sapna Saini contributed a lot in making this program successful. Ashima Thakur, member of Entrepreneurship Development Cell, conducted the stage for the entire program.
