A Diwali Fair was organized today at Government College Naraingarh under the joint auspices of the Women Cell and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), under the chairmanship of Principal Rohit Kumar. The primary objective of the event was to encourage entrepreneurial spirit among students and motivate them towards self-reliance. The programme began with the convener of the Women Cell and EDC, Professor Renu Kumari (Department of Commerce), along with committee members, welcoming the Principal by presenting a bouquet. The Principal inaugurated the fair by cutting the ribbon. Appreciating the efforts of the students, he said that such events help students develop creativity, business orientation, and practical skills. He also urged the students to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali to avoid causing harm to the environment. Students put up a variety of stalls, including decorations, food stalls, games, handmade gifts, craft items, accessories, and more. The food stalls featured golgappas, dahi bhalla, bhelpuri, fruit chaat, chana and sweet potato chaat, tikki, momos, spring rolls, kulche, jaljeera, lassi, etc. A total of 30 stalls were set up by students, with special emphasis on hygiene and cleanliness. Teachers and students enthusiastically purchased items and encouraged the participants. Convener Professor Renu Kumari stated that such events provide students with an opportunity to “learn while earning” and inspire them to become self-reliant. The best-performing stalls were awarded first, second, and third prizes in the form of cash rewards, and all participants were honoured with certificates presented by the Principal. The judging panel consisted of Professor Subhash Kumar, Professor Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Apoorva Chawla, Dr. Suman Lata, Dr. Reema Sandhu, and Professor Naresh Kumar. The organizing committee included Dr. Swaranjeet Singh, Ashima Thakur, Dr. Manisha Devi, Dr. Sapna Gupta, Daljeet, Dr. Sonu, Indu Dhiman, Dr. Neha Walia, and Sapna Saini, along with all teaching and non-teaching staff members who contributed to making the event a success.
